Anishinaabemowin Program at Massey

Special to the Massey Community and back by popular demand, this 8-week introductory Anishinaabemowin course will cover the basic tools for students to continue to learn Anishinaabemowin independently or in the community.

Beginning October 14, participants will be introduced to a new aspect of Anishinaabemowin and practice it by creating their own meaning. Participants will be supported visually, tactilely, and auditorily throughout the duration of the course.

A reminder that due to a campus wide steam shut down for emergency repairs to infrastructure on the St. George campus, the Ondaatje Dining Hall will be closed from October 1-10. We cannot provide food, but we hope that you will come to our events.

Join us in the Quadrangle to lift your voice in song with Ojibwe Elder, Storyteller, and song keeper Elder Garry Sault of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. Elder Sault will lead us in an interactive workshop on Ojibwe singing and the dynamic being of song within Indigenous life and traditions. RSVP


4 OCT 8:00 pm : Music Salon – Beautiful Scars: An Evening with Tom Wilson

In conversation with Canadian music historian, author and Journalism Fellow alum Michael Barclay, Wilson will talk about his musical and personal journey. He discovered in his fifties that he had been secretly adopted as a baby, and that both his birth parents were Mohawk. RSVP

The UN Decade of Health Aging (2021-2030) is seeking “to reduce health inequities and improve the lives of older people, their families and communities through collective action.” While healthy aging is a major challenge in Canada and globally, children and youth are also confronting significant issues and barriers to health and well-being. This is a special cooperation with the Royal Society of Canada – join us. RSVP

There is a new exhibition on display in the Lower Library! This House: Celebrating Massey College@60, curated by Acting Librarian Kathryn Middleton, showcases elements of the vision, design, and community of the college over the past six decades.

  • Printing Fellow and Massey Staff Raaz Pourfazli has been named as Jeannie Thib Emerging Artist in Residence at Open Studio Toronto. Congratulations!

  • Junior Fellow Otuto Chukwu presented on a novel policy change framework that he has created for involving pharmacists in improving access to cancer control services at the 81st World Congress of the International Pharmaceutical Federation. The conference abstract can be found here.
  • Senior Fellow and Massey College Governing Board Member Jillian Kohler has just published a policy paper for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) entitled “A Prescription for Health” Read it here.
  • William Southam Journalism Fellow Anna Mehler-Paperny speaks with Dr. David Gratzer on the debate over coercive care in mental health. Listen to their conversation here.
