The academic year has begun!
We will gather in the Quadrangle for our annual formal group photo this Friday, September 16th. Senior Fellows, Quadrangle Society Members, Journalism Fellows, Visiting Scholars, Senior Residents and Junior Fellows, – please mark your calendars for 5:00pm to come to the Quad. This will be the first time in three years that we will come together to do this, so it will be a photograph for the history books!
The group photo will be followed by the Welcome High Table at 6:30pm. High Tables are a special tradition at Massey where we come together to share a delicious meal and meet and celebrate the members of the community. We have a few spaces available. Please RSVP below and join in the festivities.

Ethics and Artificial Intelligence the first event in our Ethics Series this year will be offered virtually on Thursday, September 15th from 12:00-1:00pm . We will be joined by Massey Alum Jamie Duncan, E. Also on September 15th from 5:00-6:30pm, join us for a special conversation and reception celebrating visual arts and print culture. Ivan McFarlane, beloved Massey community member who passed away in 2020, was an important force behind many a book club held at the college. He is memorialized in a portrait by Gordon Shadrach now featured at the entry to the Upper Library. We will be joined by two artists – Gordon Shadrach and Aaron Jones in conversation with Sarah Robayo Sheridan about their exhibited works.

WALTER GORDON SYMPOSIUM
The 2022 Walter Gordon Symposium will be held on Saturday, September 24th from 8:30am-6:00pm focusing on Artificial Intelligence. It will be in-person only.
The WGS is named after the Honourable Walter Gordon, who was Minister of Finance and President of the Privy Council under the government of Lester B. Pearson. The annual series, which began in 1990 under the leadership of then head of the College, Ann Saddlemeyer, was designed to present a topic of immediate Canadian significance to an interested audience drawn from academic, corporate and government worlds.

THE FRANKLIN FORUM
Each year Massey College and Science@Massey host the Ursula Franklin Forum on a topic at the intersection of Science, Engineering, Public Policy and Society. Dr. Ursula Franklin was a beloved Senior Fellow and was the first woman to be made University Professor at the University of Toronto.

Senior Fellow and Principal Emeritus of Massey College, Hugh Segal has been appointed as the interim Director of the Centre for International Defence Policy at Queen’s University.
Junior Fellow Chukwunonso Nwabufo has received the Pfizer Canada Graduate Fellowship to support his research investigating strategies for improving the clinical efficacy and safety profile of COVID-19 drugs. Congratulations!

In this partnership, we are welcoming their new faculty members to participate in all the programs and events the College has to offer for their first year on campus.
