In case you missed it, Adele Weder’s new book – Ron Thom, Architect: The Life of A Creative Modernist was reviewed last week in the Globe and Mail. Massey College is featured – give it a read here.  As we embark on our 60th year, we will continue working to ensure that our beautiful building endures through the 21st century.

On February 11 Celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science at the Aga Khan Museum with a thought-provoking panel of leading Muslim women scientists, presented in partnership with the Canadian Commission for UNESCO. The panel will feature alum Hadeel Mohammad, Mohadeesha Abdolhossem, Omnia Elebuyary, and Junior Fellow Heba Robl. Moderated by Senior Fellow the Rt. Hon. Julie Payette.

Senior Fellow Mark Starowicz is premiering a documentary on CBC Nature of Things Friday, Feb 17,at 9 pm. Titled “Apocalypse Plan B”, it is an examination of some radical ideas about scientific proposals to cool the planet by “geoengineering” the atmosphere, including seeding the stratosphere with tons of sulphur aerosols, or deploying fleets of cloud-making ships to reflect back the sun’s rays. Co-directed with his daughter, Caitlin Starowicz.

Edward (Barry) Smyth passed away earlier this month. Barry was a Junior Fellow at Massey College in 1966, and a Senior Fellow from 1990-1999.
