As part of its 60th celebration, Massey College will be fêted at the Blue Jays game on Tuesday August 29, some tickets remain, join us and purchase your tickets here.

Please join me in welcoming our new Acting Librarian 

Kathryn Middleton is a recent graduate of the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Information. She earned her Master of Information with concentrations in Library & Information Science and Archives & Records Management, as well as the Book History and Print Culture collaborative specialisation. She completed her undergraduate studies in Classics and Early Modern Studies at the University of King’s College in Halifax and has worked in academic and government research libraries.  

Prior to joining Massey as the Acting College Librarian, Kathryn regularly volunteered in the Bibliography Room, where she recently completed her time as one of the College’s Printing Fellows. Katie is passionate about book history, letterpress printing, and the Roman poet Catullus. Welcome!

Massey College Alumni Association (MCAA) Elections  

Attention all Alumni! You should have, by now, received a ballot via email, from Election Runner – our online voting system to participate in this year’s MCAA Council election. If you have not received a ballot, please get in touch with Catherine Fowler to receive your ballot.  

The MCAA election will close at 11:55pm on August 6.

Alum Aiden Bruen (JF 1966-1967) passed away earlier this month. Please join me in sending condolences to friends and family. His full obituary is here

AWARDS 

Massey Staff Member and Bibliography Room Volunteer Raaz Pourfazli was awarded the Jeannie Thib Emerging Artist Residency at Open Studio in Toronto. Raaz also has an exhibition with Naka Collective which opened July 28.  

Junior Fellow Otuto Chukwu has been awarded the Edith M. McCuaig-Throop Bursary based on academic merit. The bursary is one of the University-Wide Awards Competition for graduate students at UofT.
