I am pleased to announce two appointments to Massey College:

Senior Fellow Payam Akhavan is the inaugural
Massey College Chair in Human Rights.


Payam will share his experiences and scholarship as a distinguished human rights lawyer before international courts and tribunals. As the Massey College Chair in Human Rights, Payam will deliver public lectures annually, convene seminars and discussion groups with Junior Fellows, and participate in College activities related to human rights.


Senior Fellow Nurjehan Mawani is the inaugural
Massey College Chair in Global Engagement.

In this role, Nurjehan will broaden Massey’s international outreach and partnerships, furthering the College’s mission to nurture the development of the next generation of high-calibre, ethical leaders as they conceive innovative solutions to the complex problems facing our world. As part of her mandate, she will provide leadership mentoring to our international Junior Fellows, connecting them to changemakers across Canada and around the world to foster a deeper understanding of global issues and their impact in Canada.


MASSEY CHOIR

The Massey Choir will return to the college in September, under the direction of Yara Robb. Rehearsals will be on Sunday evenings, 7:00-8:00 p.m. in the Music Room (Colin Friesen Room) on the lower level.
Pizza will be provided for participants!

All are welcome to join – Junior Fellows, Alumni, Senior Fellows, Quadranglers, Visiting Scholars, Journalism Fellows, staff. No training or experience necessary. For more information, contact Yara.

FORMAL DINNERS

Formal dinners take place on Mondays and Wednesdays throughout each term.

The first formal dinner of the year begins on Wednesday, September 13 in Ondaatje Hall at 6:30pm. Please join us. Anyone who is a not a resident Junior Fellow, please email our Porter by 2:00pm the day of the dinner.

REMINDERS

Ondaatje Hall will re-open for cafeteria-style breakfast, lunch and dinner service on September 5. Our first formal dinner will be served on September 13.

SCREENING RSVP


The Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation are hosting the 35th Three Fires Homecoming Pow Wow and Traditional Gathering on August 26 & 27 (2789 Mississauga Road, Hagersville).

The Grand Entry will take place at 1:00pm and 7pm on Saturday, August 26, and on Sunday at 1:00pm, with closing ceremonies on Sunday commencing  at 4:00pm. They will be accepting donations and non-perishable food items for the local food bank at the gate. Admission price: $5.00, children under 6 are free. Visit the MCFN website for more details.
