Dear friends of Massey College, chers collègues,
Junior Fellows are moving in, and we have wonderful weather ahead this week – Massey College staff and I are looking forward to welcoming new community members and reconnecting with returning ones!
Among our “in residence” visitors coming to support the College and the Junior Fellowship:
- Sir Graham Watson, Massey College Environmentalist-in-Residence. He will share his experiences and scholarship as a political leader and environmental advocate and campaigner. In this role, he will assist Junior Fellows in organizing conferences and events to support environmental stewardship. Sir Graham can be reached by email.
- David Scrymgour is Massey College’s Entrepreneur-in-Residence, David will provide leadership and mentorship to Junior Fellows, particularly the Venture Society group of students interested in entrepreneurship. He will organize visits from guests who will contribute to a better understanding of entrepreneurship issues and opportunities for the Massey community. David can be reached by email.
- Peter Sloly returns to Massey as Changemaker-in-Residence. In his role, Peter helps Massey College to advance overall culture and organizational change in the institution while facilitating leadership development initiatives for the Junior Fellows. Peter can be reached by email here.
- Brigitte Shim is the first Massey College Architect in Residence. She is a Senior Fellow and a founding partner of Shim-Sutcliffe Architects who will share her expertise on our architecturally significant and heritage-designated building. From 1995 – 2014, Brigitte Shim and Howard Sutcliffe were College Architects at Massey College designing the Robertson Davies Library, the St. Catherine’s Chapel, and the new west gate. She is a faculty member at the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design.
- Supreme Court of Canada Justice Andromache Karakatsanis will join us in the last week of October as Judge in Residence.
- Thomas S. Axworthy returns as the Massey College Chair in Public Policy. Tom will work with Junior Fellows in organizing the annual Walter Gordon Symposium and many other Public Policy initiatives throughout the year at Massey. Tom can be reached by email, here.
I am pleased to welcome our new Weekend Porter, Cristina Castellvi.
Cristina S. Castellvi is the Administrative Assistant of Friends of Canadian Institutes of Health Research (Friends of CIHR), The Henry G. Friesen International Prize in Health Research, Massey Grand Rounds (MGR) Program & The Janet Rossant Lectureship based at Massey College for 17 years now. Cristina looks forward to meeting members of the Massey College community.
For our 60th Anniversary, Ondaatje Hall will feature a special temporary exhibit art installation. Many thanks to the Massey Foundation for supporting this, and curators John Massey and Sarah Robayo Sheridan.

AWARDS
Senior Fellow John Borrows, Loveland Chair in Indigenous Law, was awarded the Charles Taylor Prize for Excellence in Policy Research and received an honorary doctorate from the University of Waterloo.
Recent Alum Stephanie Redekop is now a full-time faculty member in the English Department at Case Western Reserve University in Ohio where she is designing and teaching different writing courses.

MASSEY COLLEGE CHOIR
The Massey Choir returns to the college in September, under the direction of Yara Robb. Rehearsals will be on Sunday evenings, 7:00-8:00 p.m. in the Music Room (Colin Friesen Room), starting on September 17. Pizza will be provided!
