I am delighted to share that Ian Williams, the academic advisor to our William Southam Journalism Fellows, will deliver the 2024 CBC Massey Lectures.

You can listen Ian in conversation with Tom Power, on CBC’s Q last week. Tour dates will be announced this summer, and you are all invited to attend the annual Toronto book launch at Massey in the Fall.


In this episode of JCR, Junior Fellow and Doctor of Pharmacy Student Setayesh Yazdani interviews pharmacists Dr. Doret Cheng and Dr. Linda Dresser. Both are clinical pharmacists, in the areas of infectious diseases and primary care, respectively and teach at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy. May 29 | The Literary Review’s Massey Essay with Tara Henley

Join Tara Henly, who has authored the annual Massey Essay entitled Trust Spiral in the Literary Review of Canada’s May issue. Honouring the memory of the long-time CBC producer Vincent Massey Tovell, the Massey Essay is an annual look at the state of the media in Canada and represents a forum for substantive media criticism. RSVP link to come.

AWARDS

  • Senior Fellow Paul Cadario received the Rose Wolfe Distinguished Alumni Award in recognition of nearly five decades of service to the University of Toronto as a volunteer and supporter.
  • Junior Fellow Margaret de Leon was awarded with a Fulbright Scholarship for her doctoral research, A Comparative Study on Working Learners in the United States and Canada. She will be working with the Pathways Laboratory at Stanford University from September 2024 to June 2025.
  • Senior Fellow Allison McGeer was announced as one of the 2024 inductees in The Canadian Medical Hall of Fame.

Alum Riley Yesno will deliver a talk at Ideas At Crow’s Theatre: (Land) Back to the Future on April 28 Riley will explore Indigenous futurism and the connection between dreams and new realities, inspired by Governor General Award-winning playwright Cliff Cardinal’s HUFF. Tickets are free and all are welcome, register here.
