I’m writing, with mixed emotions, to report that Kit MacNeil has resigned their position as College Printer to take up a new position as Assistant Professor of Printing History, Culture and Practice, Teaching Stream (CLTA) at St. Michael’s College in the University of Toronto.
Please join me in thanking Kit for their artistry, insight, and caring mentoring/teaching in the printing portfolio here at Massey. Kit’s work to explore, engage, and create with the collection as it is, and to bring it forward with creativity and through the teaching of others, has been exemplary.
Kit, please let me wish you success in this exciting next step, working in a very related area as a professor. I’m sure that means you’ll still be strongly connected to the college printing portfolio, and we all look forward to that.
Kit sent this message to pass on to the community:
“I have greatly enjoyed my time at Massey College, and I will miss the Fellowship, my coworkers, and, especially, the many assorted Bib Roomers in the Lower Library. Thank you, Massey College, for being a challenging place to grow and learn, as well as a source of friendship and letterpress puns. It has been an honour to be your College Printer.”
I am pleased to share with you our incoming Visiting Scholars. (View here.) Please join me in giving them all a warm welcome – and I invite you all to meet them and hear a little bit about their research and sabbatical plans at the reception on October 1 alongside Senior Residents, Chairs and special Residents.
