George F. Walker is the 2025 Jack McClelland Writer-in-Residence at Massey College

George F. Walker was born into a Toronto working-class family on August 23, 1947.  He has written over 40 plays, which have been produced in theatres all over the world.  He has also written and produced three television series. He has won nine Chalmers Awards, five Dora Mavor Moore Awards,  three Governor General’s awards (including the Lifetime Achievement Award) and has been appointed to the Order of Canada. Walker’s tragi-comedies often illuminate the lives of poor and marginalized people. All are invited to a reading a reception for George taking place on March 4, 2025.
