COMMUNITY NEWS

Congratulations to Junior Fellow Nicole Mfoafo-M’Carthy who has received a Rhodes Scholarship and will attend Oxford University next year.

Quadrangle Society Member Jonathon Reid will be featured on TVO’s Agenda on December 13th on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Hong Kong and his book The Captain was a Doctor, which documents his father’s time as a Canadian prisoner of war.

Lastly, this past March CBS’s Star Trek Discovery shot an episode at Massey College.  It was fascinating to see Ron Thom’s creation blend with that of Gene Roddenberry.  Many architectural details of the College inspired the art department of the show and they transformed Ondaatje Hall, grand staircase and Junior Common Room into scenes from a distant planet. The episode airs Thursday December 9th at 9pm on CTV Sci Fi and Crave TV, tune in and see if you can recognize the Massey rooms. Photos from behind the scenes, and some props will be on display at the college following the airing of the episode.
