The AI & Human Societies Junior Fellow Group at Massey College brings together graduate students who are passionate about exploring the profound intersections between artificial intelligence and human experience. Through interdisciplinary dialogue, collaborative research, and community-building events, the group examines how AI technologies shape and are shaped by societal values, ethics, culture, policy, and everyday life. This community fosters thoughtful conversations that bridge technical innovation with humanistic insight, preparing Fellows to lead with curiosity, responsibility, and purpose in a world increasingly influenced by AI. This group includes Patrick Lee (PhD, Computer Science), Erina Moon (PhD, Faculty of Information), Rowan Munson (PhD, Faculty of Information), Jessica Bo (PhD, Computer Science), Renée Andrea Sirbu (PhD, Institute for the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology), and Del Coburn (MA, Sociology). Together, they explore human-centred AI, data visualization, algorithmic fairness, digital ethics, healthcare technologies, and the societal implications of emerging AI systems—examining how these tools shape governance, equity, and everyday life, and how they might better serve the public good.
