A Reading by Kyo Maclear, Jack McClelland Writer-in-Residence 2026
Please join us on Tuesday, March 10 at Massey College for a special reception in honour of our 2026 Jack McClelland Writer-in-Residence, Kyo Maclear.
Each year, the Jack McClelland Writer-in-Residence Program welcomes a distinguished Canadian writer to the University of Toronto to work closely with students, faculty, and staff. Jointly sponsored by Massey College and the University of Toronto Department of English, the residency supports creative exchange through seminars, consultations, and community engagement.
Kyo Maclear is an acclaimed essayist, novelist, and children’s author whose work has been translated into eighteen languages and published in more than twenty-five countries. Her nonfiction books include Birds Art Life, a #1 Canadian bestseller and winner of the Trillium Book Award, and Unearthing: A Story of Tangled Love and Family Secrets, which won the Governor General’s Literary Award for Nonfiction. Her recent children’s books have received international recognition, including a Caldecott Medal Honor and a New York Times Best Illustrated Award.
