Anishinaabemowin Lessons at Massey College

You are invited to register for our upcoming Anishinaabemowin lessons at Massey College. The Fall term dates are October 26, and November 9, 16, 23, 30. This series will be held in the Private Dining Room from 10:30am-12:00pm. While in-person attendance is preferred, it is possible to join remotely. Zoom link will be sent to registrants ahead of the weekly class.

This series of Anishinaabemowin lessons is conducted by a father/ son duo – Jason and Marcel Donio.

Jason Donio is a member of Bingwi Neeyashi Anishinaabek First Nation. He is from loon clan, currently lives in Toronto and regularly volunteers his time to support the Indigenous community.
He is passionate about helping Indigenous youth and grateful for every opportunity to share
his knowledge and culture.

Marcel Donio, Anishinabe name is Nehbuhnehawbuhnweshkung. Marcel was born and raised on the shores of Lake Nipigon and attended an Indian Day School in MacDiarmid until they were integrated with the local public school. He held a number of positions in both Federal and Provincial governments and as well in Indigenous organizations. He retired recently as a Justice of the Peace and remains active with his territorial Tribal Council performing a variety of roles as an Elder and is involved in conversational Ojibway language classes.
