Junior Fellow Lecture Series – Climate Emergencies

Presented by the Junior Fellows, these lectures take place roughly once a month and invite three Junior Fellows to give an after dinner lecture on a chosen topic through the lens of their various fields of study. 

January’s topic is Climate Emergencies. 

Chaitanya Ahuja is a Master of Applied Science candidate in Civil Engineering at the University of Toronto. He will be presenting on Reducing the climate impact of urban infrastructures: Urban form pathways to minimize the embodied greenhouse gas emissions of water systems

Carlos Sanchez-Pimienta is a Vanier Scholar, Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholar, and PhD Candidate at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health. He will be presenting on Which Human? Whose Nature? Re-thinking Contemporary Climate Emergencies.

Emmanuel Taiwo is a chartered environmentalist and PhD candidate in Environmental Science. His research focuses on equity in climate and energy transitions. He will be presenting on Fostering Justice and Equity in Energy Transitions: The Power of “Community”.

Kaushar Mahetaji is a PhD student based at the Faculty of Information researching social media platform companies. She will be presenting on TikTok and ByteDance—#climateaction? #climateinaction? Unpacking the digital dimension of the climate crisis
