Massey College Saves the World
Join the Massey College Environment and Sustainability Committee for Massey College Saves the World, an interactive evening about climate change mitigation and adaptation, with Junior Fellows Benjamin Rabishaw and Chaitanya Ahuja alongside Massey College’s Principal, Dr. James Orbinski.
Across the world, climate change is falling as a policy priority for countries feeling trapped by the pressures of near-term survival and immediate economic and geopolitical threats. Though significant progress has been made to reduce future average surface temperature increase under the architecture of the Paris Agreement, the spread of net zero strategies, and technological innovations, carbon emissions continue rising, even as irreversible tipping points for global coral, tropical rainforests, and ocean currents are being reached.
On February 24th, step into the role of global decision-maker through the climate change management board game Daybreak, taking charge of a world superpower and directing both local and global climate projects. Working in teams, weigh the costs and benefits of programs like carbon prices, fossil fuel nationalization, renewable energy, flood barriers, walkable cities, mangrove restoration, and more – considering which responses remain technologically and politically viable in 2026 while coordinating and strategizing with colleagues to save the world.
Prizes, snacks, and lively interactions await!
This event is exclusively for the Massey College community only.
