The Massey Ventures Society (MVS) seeks to connect individuals interested in starting and running their own entrepreneurial ventures. We aim to bring together Junior and Senior members of the Massey Community, as well as leaders in the Canadian entrepreneurship ecosystem to discuss innovation and business ideation. To kick-start this new society, we have organized an event, to take place at Massey College at 5pm on Monday, October. 23. The event will include a panel session, followed up a meet-and-greet with cheese platters and beverages.

The panelists for the session are Eva Lau, David A. Wolfe and Dan Breznitz.

Eva Lau is an entrepreneur-turned-investor and one of the few women leading a venture fund in Canada. Eva is a founder and general partner of Two Small Fish Ventures and is also involved in many Canadian incubators and accelerators, such as the University of Toronto’s Creative Destruction Lab and the Entrepreneurship Hatchery, Ryerson University’s DMZ, University of Waterloo’s Velocity and Techstars.

David A. Wolfe is a Professor of Political Science at the UTM and Co-Director of the Innovation Policy Lab at the Munk School of Global Affairs. He has coordinated several SSHRC-funded projects to study how Canada should respond to the rapidly changing innovation landscape.

Dan Breznitz is the Munk Chair of Innovation Studies, the Co-Director of the Innovation Policy Lab, and a professor of global affairs and political science in the Munk School and the Department of Political Science of the University of Toronto, as well as a Fellow of CIFAR where he Co-Directs the program on Innovation, Equity, and the Future of Prosperity.

La Massey Ventures Society (MVS) cherche à mettre en relation les personnes intéressées par la création et la gestion de leur propre entreprise. Notre objectif est de rassembler les membres juniors et seniors de la communauté Massey, ainsi que les leaders de l’écosystème entrepreneurial canadien pour discuter de l’innovation et de l’idéation commerciale. Pour donner le coup d’envoi à cette nouvelle société, nous avons organisé un événement qui aura lieu au Massey College à 17 heures le lundi octobre. 23. L’événement comprendra une table ronde, suivie d’une rencontre avec des plateaux de fromages et des boissons.

Eva Lau est une entrepreneuse devenue investisseuse et l’une des rares femmes à diriger un fonds de capital-risque au Canada. David A. Wolfe est professeur de sciences politiques à l’UTM et codirecteur de l’Innovation Policy Lab à la Munk School of Global Affairs. Il a coordonné plusieurs projets financés par le CRSH afin d’étudier la manière dont le Canada devrait réagir à l’évolution rapide du paysage de l’innovation.

Dan Breznitz est titulaire de la chaire Munk d’études sur l’innovation, codirecteur du laboratoire de politique d’innovation et professeur d’affaires mondiales et de sciences politiques à l’école Munk et au département de sciences politiques de l’université de Toronto. Il est également membre du CIFAR, où il codirige le programme sur l’innovation, l’équité et l’avenir de la prospérité.
