The Cost of Freedom: Refugee Journalists in Canada
On Tuesday, March 9th from 7:00-8:30pm Massey is hosting a special preview of The Cost of Freedom: Refugee Journalists in Canada, a full length documentary currently in production.
The Cost of Freedom confronts one of the most compelling human rights challenges of our day: the threat to journalists. Focusing on the lives of Abdulrahman Matar from Syria, Massey College Alumni Luis Nájera of México and Arzu Yildiz from Turkey this project investigates why they fled their countries and are seeking to rebuild their lives as refugees in Canada. Their stories and challenges illuminate the global struggle for free speech in a time of increasing threat to journalists.
Meet the journalists and the production team for an evening of information, fundraising and a sneak preview of the film. Featuring Abdulrahman Matar, Luis Nájera, Arzu Yildiz, Senior Fellow Jeffrey Dvorkin and director / producer James Cullingham.
