Womxn in Leadership Networking Event

Join us for an afternoon of networking, mentorship, and meaningful conversations at Massey College, where we celebrate and empower womxn in leadership. For Massey Alumni, friends, current Junior Fellows, and Senior Fellows – this event is to bring together Massey’s amazing leadership network. Whether you’re looking to expand your network, gain insights from inspiring speakers, or simply engage in thought-provoking discussions, this event is your opportunity to be part of a dynamic and supportive community.

Hear from our panelists Dr. Hadiya Roderique (University of Toronto Scarborough, Department of Journalism, Massey Junior Fellow 2014 – 2019), Dr. Alison Paprica (University of Toronto, Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation; Senior Fellow, Massey College), and Catherine Fowler (President and CEO, Enactus Canada) for a discussion on navigating career changes and opportunities. This event will have a short panel followed by networking with light refreshments in the Junior Common Room, so individuals can connect with each other, and the Massey community.

BIOS:

Dr. Hadiya Roderique is a researcher, writer, speaker, consultant, broadcast commentator and recovering Bay Street lawyer. An Assistant Professor of Journalism at the University of Toronto’s Scarborough campus, her research focuses on how journalists write about race in Canadian media. She is the former co-host of Canadaland’s Commons and an award-winning journalist, including a 2021 National Magazine award, with bylines in The Walrus, The Globe and Mail, The Toronto Star, and Macleans, amongst others. She is most well known for her viral piece “Black on Bay Street”, a cover story for the Globe and Mail, which outlined her experiences as a young Black woman working in a Bay Street firm. She was named one of Canada’s Top 25 Most Influential Lawyers by Canadian Lawyers’ Magazine, and in 2019, received the Clarkson Laureateship for Public Service from Massey College.

Alison Paprica is a Senior Fellow at Massey College, a Senior Fellow and Adjunct Professor at the University of Toronto’s Institute for Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, and the principal and founder of Research Project Management (RPM).Previously, Alison was a member of the Executive Committee at Health Data Research Network Canada; the inaugural Vice President, Health Strategy and Partnerships at the Vector Institute for Artificial Intelligence; and Director, Strategic Partnerships at ICES. From 2010 to 2013, she was the director responsible for research at the Ontario Ministry of Health, where she provided oversight for up to $60 million annual applied health research investment and in-house knowledge translation activities to bring research findings into policy and practice. Before working in the public sector, Alison held scientist and management positions at three international pharmaceutical R&D companies. Alison holds an Honours Combined BSc in biochemistry and chemistry (McMaster), and a PhD in organic chemistry (Western University). She is working toward completing a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy at McMaster.

Catherine Fowler is the President and CEO of Enactus Canada, leading the organization in empowering post-secondary students to discover and realize their entrepreneurial potential and create lasting social and economic impact. Previously, she served as CAO & Bursar at Massey College, COO and Interim CEO of the Loran Scholars Foundation and COO of the Glenn Gould Foundation, bringing extensive leadership in philanthropy, arts, and education. Earlier in her career, Catherine founded and led five businesses in the entertainment/hospitality industry: Elements Event Management, Polson Pier/Cabana, The Sound Academy, Clair Canada AV Productions, and 232 Productions Inc.
