This first of a series on Mental Health at Massey College, this private “fireside chat” will explore how COVID-19 has changed the landscape of mental health challenges, the personal experience of young people with mental health issues and open to an exchange of ideas on how to cope and where to turn for help.

  • Valéry Brosseau
    Speaker, writer and mental health advocate

    Valéry Brosseau is a passionate speaker, writer and mental health advocate whose lived experience with mental illness has taken her on a journey to combat stigma through mental health awareness. She began volunteering in mental health in 2013, winning awards for her volunteer work, and then pursued further education and training in this field. Valéry now delivers talks and workshops, raising awareness and equipping people with the tools and language to support others and manage their own mental health. In 2019, she delivered a TEDx talk on the stigma surrounding suicide.

    Keshna Sood
    Junior Fellow, Massey College; Molecular Genetics, PhD

    Keshna Sood is a molecular biologist who enjoys zooming out as much as in. She works on the interfaces of gene editing, in silico antibody design and protein engineering in efforts to support clinical applications in immune oncology spaces. After her PhD, Keshna hopes to contribute to more integrated fields of systems science thinking and is mainly interested in science policy and diplomacy areas. Outside of the lab, Keshna creates space and instils initiatives in others for yoga and mindfulness, being an internationally trained yoga teacher and mindfulness coach.
