On Friday we will host the Indigenous High Table. Dr. Malcolm King will be honoured and we will announce the recipient of the Dr. Malcolm King Scholarship. Gimaa Stacey Laforme, Elder Carolyn King and Phil Fontaine will also be attending. It will be a wonderful evening, we look forward to seeing you.

INDIGENOUS HERITAGE PROGRAMMING  

OCT 13  

Elder Carolyn King, of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, will visit Massey College on Friday, October 13 at 4:00-5:30pm, to give her unique presentation Indigenous 101. She will also talk about the Moccassin Identifier Project, which she developed in partnership with the Mississaugas of the Credit and The Greenbelt Foundation, to promote public awareness of significant cultural historic sites and the ancestral presence of First Nations, Métis and Indigenous Communities. The presentation will be in the Upper Library. All are welcome.

17 OCT 11:45am : CBC Massey Lectures: Reflecting on John Ralston Saul’s The Unconscious Civilization

In celebration of Massey College’s 60th anniversary and in recognition of our successful long-term partnership with CBC Radio—Canada and House of Anansi Press you are invited to an exciting series that gives new perspectives on previously published lectures.  

Join us in the Upper Library for a family-style lunch, an interview between Principal Des Rosiers and John Ralston Saul where they will explore Saul’s 1995 CBC Lecture The Unconscious Civilization, and an audience Q&A. 

This lunch series will be recorded and footage will be used for special programing on CBC Ideas.     

Please note this and future Reflecting on the CBC Massey Lecture Lunches will be $30.

York University’s School of the Arts, Media, Performance & Design (AMPD) is pleased to host their first Sensorium Salon of 23/24 in partnership with Massey. Sensorium is AMPD’s research centre for the study of media arts, performance, and digital culture. Our speaker, Catherine Zuromskis, from the Rochester Institute of Technology, will talk about her current research on the history of citizen photojournalism. RSVP.

The first Massey Dialogues of the year begins with a discussion on Israel with Canada’s former Ambassador to Israel Jon Allen who will take Massey on a search for solutions with Junior Fellow Anne-Marie Fowler, Israeli lawyer Lior Pollack. Moderated by Senior Fellow Michael ValpyRSVP.

  • William Southam Journalism Alum Natasha Grzincic and her team from VICE News won an Emmy Award  for Health or Medical Coverage for Beyond Fentanyl, a documentary she worked on about the next wave of the overdose crisis. Watch the full documentary here
  • Senior Fellow Allison McGeer has been inducted into the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame for her work in Canadian and international public health and infectious diseases.  Congratulations!
