On Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 12:30 p.m., the William Southam Journalism Fellows welcome security scholar and former political journalist Dr. Miloud Chennoufi for an off-the-record lunch conversation in the Massey College dining hall. These weekly gatherings offer an opportunity for the Massey community to connect with the journalism fellows and their guests to exchange ideas and discuss journalism, current affairs, and the issues shaping our world.
Miloud Chennoufi is Professor of International Relations at the Canadian Forces College, as well as at the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC). A former political reporter, he brings a rare dual perspective to contemporary geopolitical crises, drawing on both newsroom experience and academic rigor. One of the most sought-after commentators in Canadian media on Middle Eastern affairs, Dr. Chennoufi will join us to discuss his current research into why the present military and security dynamics in the Middle East mark the conclusion of a historical cycle that began with the First Gulf War, while reflecting on the role and responsibilities of academic experts when engaged by the media during times of international conflict.
