Amanda Follett Hosgood (St. Clair Balfour Journalism Fellow) grew up in Toronto and completed her journalism degree at Carleton University. She began her career at community newspapers in Alberta nearly 25 years ago before moving to northern B.C. in 2006. After more than a decade freelancing, she joined The Tyee in 2020. Over the past six years, her reporting has focused on the intersection of Indigenous rights, resource extraction and the environment. Amanda is as two-time recipient of the CAJ-APTN Truth and Reconciliation Award and received a Webster Award for Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion Reporting. She lives with her family just outside Smithers, B.C.
