Today's Journalism guest is Khawla Nakua

Khawla Nakua (Webster McConnell Journalism Fellow) is a freelance criminal justice reporter who reports on prison conditions, and treatment of incarcerated Muslims. Her work has been featured in Slate Magazine, Mother Jones Magazine and the Walrus Magazine. She has written stories about Ramadan in prisons, the lack of care that elderly incarcerated people receive in Florida prisons, and the lack of transitional housing for formerly incarcerated Muslims in Texas that fit their housing and religious needs. She has received The Goldziher Prize for Journalists for her reporting. In 2025, she taught a Justice and the Courts to journalism students at the Toronto Metropolitan University
